Free Computer Literacy To Poor Children Charity Project: Barangay Ponong of Bato Leyte Recipient of Free Computer Literacy 2015-2016

Barangay Ponong is a pilot area and recipient of Free Computer Literacy To Poor Children. It is a coastal, mountainous community located south of Bato, Leyte bordering municipality of Matalom. A poor barangay wherein fishing, farming and weaving are main source of living. Basically the people's income are very low not enough to sustain a family of many children and most of parents cannot send their kids to college. It is a community where food is scarce because lands are not fully cultivated and productivity not maximized. Many children are malnourished because not much nutritious food can be found in this locality. There are no business establishments that can provide employment to residents. When food is a problem, health and academic performance are at low. It is within our reach located near our center. It is a major decision to implement our project into this area where there are many children belong to low-income family. Most school children in this community have already learned computer thru our charity project. As of this writing, among 32 barangays of municipality of Bato, Ponong has the most number of children computer literate. Kids study various computer skills namely data encoding (word processing and spreadsheet), audio video editing, computer graphics, internet and other related skills. More and more follow up training are given until they will become proficient. Their knowledge is useful for employment locally, continue college or our learners will open a personal service of their own.
